Welcome to the WriterMind Lab
The Lab is dedicated to writers' creativity, writing engagement and psychological health. Not everyone understands the powerful relationships between the brain, the mind, creative productivity and wellbeing. In the Lab we do. This understanding underpins everything on offer through the Lab.
The Lab programs distill the exact strategies and practices that have proven effective during the ten years of A Mind of One's Own psychological and coaching work with writers, whether individually, or through groups. The Lab targets specific difficulties in four key areas that typically prevent writers engaging effectively with their work:
* The writer's relationship with the self (self-criticism, self-doubt, unrelenting high standards, lack of self-acceptance, perfectionism, problematic self-stories such as not-good-enough)
* The writer's mind management difficulties (emotional overwhelm, procrastination, unhelpful thinking patterns and distorted thinking, getting stuck in the 'what if' trap, fear of failure)
* Excessive focus on external factors (publication concerns, criticism/rejection concerns, potential reviews, sales)
* The mistmach between the writer's expections and the realities of the writing life (expecting writing to be a joyous flow, rather than the difficult, stressful and disheartening process it can be)
Importantly, the Lab is designed to create connection and psychological support for writers, without the expense and intensity of individual therapy and coaching.
Through these years of working with writers within A Mind of One's Own I have seen powerfully positive shifts in the psychological wellbeing and writing engagement in writers who develop effective writer Mindskills, and who engage in regular online coaching and focused writing sessions. For some writers this has been through individual therapy or coaching; for others it has been through online or in person group work.
I've designed the Lab to be quiet, private online space designed specifically for the purpose of fostering writers' psychological and emotional health. You'll be able to engage in brief, effective skills clinics, regular mastery coaching clinics for addressing individual difficulties and increasing motivation, and focused implementation writing sessions.
Finally, you'll get the skills, the support, the connection and the opportunity to address, week by week the key factors getting in the way of you having the sustainable, engaged writing practice you want for the long term.
Not a quick fix, not a sugar hit. No false promises. Substance and follow through.
Evidence based psychological skills, troubleshooting & problem solving coaching support, and implementation days to help you build the writing practice you want.
